Sitting just six miles from the historic seaport of Beaufort, S.C. Dataw is a beautiful 870-acre property in the Sea Islands region of coastal South Carolina. It’s been developed into a gated private community with an impressive selection of country club amenities.
Property owners have access to two private 18-hole golf courses designed by Tom Fazio and Arthur Hills. For residents who love tennis, there is a full-service tennis club. Other amenities include indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a large fitness center, a grand antebellum-style clubhouse, and a deep-water marina with access to the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean.
Once a prosperous sea island cotton plantation, Dataw Island is now a successful gated community of 1100 properties offering its residents the best in coastal, island living.
Gracious homes, including golf course homes, marsh front homes, and waterfront homes, are all part of the master plan offering unsurpassed views; sunsets across the marsh, a riverfront teeming with wildlife, and fairway views of either Cotton Dike or Morgan River golf course.
The Dataw Clubhouse designed to serve as the heart of this warm, friendly and active community, reflects how special life is here, offering plenty of space for community events, gatherings, favorite activities, and fun. This is a wonderful place for residents to come together to know each other and develop lasting friendships.
The Clubhouse is a symbol of Dataw’s commitment to maintaining its architectural heritage, with its sweeping staircases and tall windows reflecting the best traditions of the Lowcountry and dedication to the welcoming spirit that residents cherish.
Pub and Sports Bar – this is the ideal place for informal gatherings after a day of boating or golf. Have a quick drink or spend the afternoon watching the football game with fellow fans. A lounge area overlooks the marsh and is a cozy spot for relaxing before dinner and enjoying friends.
Carolina Room – an expanded kitchen gives our staff plenty of room to prepare their fresh, gourmet culinary treats for residents enjoying both the Carolina Room functions and a la carte meals in the Grill Room. The Grill Room offers elegant dining. When temperatures are mild, the outdoor dining area brings another dining option.
The 36 holes of golf at Dataw Island are among the very best in the Lowcountry. Tee times are designed to fit your schedule rather than the schedule of a busy resort.
Cotton Dike Course
This was the first course created at Dataw. Designed by Tom Fazio, the course is built over terrain which was coaxed from the marshes by a series of dikes. The 18 holes require strategy and accuracy and in return provide a golfing experience that is continuously interesting and exciting. Just about half of the 18 holes lie along the marsh and Jenkins Creek with stunning vistas in all directions.
Morgan River Course
This is the second course built at Dataw and is a striking example of the great talent of Arthur Hills. This course demands more accuracy yet rewards each disciplined shot. The beauty is unsurpassed with breaks in the stands of massive oaks that create frames for the water views of the river and the savannahs beyond.
Marina – The Dataw Island Marina provides state-of-the-art facilities and marine services catering to the most experienced mariner and those who are casting off for the first time. Dataw Island Marina is the perfect place to begin explorations of the inlets, marsh waterways, or an exciting, deep-sea fishing expedition on the Atlantic Ocean.
